Responsible for performing independently, tasks of a skilled nature, necessary for the operation, maintenance, repair and remodeling of Center buildings, grounds, and equipment. Must be proficient in architectural skills. Additionally, a working knowledge in at least two of the following areas: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, welding, HVAC, building automation, steam and hot water systems or refrigeration would be beneficial.
Individual will be assigned primarily architectural and/or mechanical work orders and be expected to complete them independently; Including estimating the work both in terms of time and material, liaison with customers, executing the work and completing all the required paperwork, such as updating as-built drawings. Individual may also be assigned to work with and/or train apprentices.
Type of work to be performed: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Builds, repairs, and install counters, cabinets, benches, keyboard trays, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim.
- Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions.
- Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
- Builds cabinets and other wooden equipment in carpenter shop.
- Installs items such as window shades, venetian blinds, and curtain rods, wall fans, and door locks for tenants.
- Minor Painting and drywall work
OE I: A skilled professional who generally has over 5 years experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work or completion of at least two years of trade school and two years experience.
OE II: A skilled professional who has 3-4 years of experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work of one or more of the systems listed above.
- Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License
- Physical skills necessary to climb, bend, stoop, lift and perform tasks utilizing ladders and scaffolds, ect
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Dependable, on-time and proven good work habits
- Good communications skills
- Able to work a varied schedule including shift work
- High School diploma or equivalent
This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. OE I: The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $44.16, which is inclusive of a $7.75 Central Pension Fund diversion.
OE II: The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $37.67 which is inclusive of a $4.89 Central Pension Fund diversion.
Position is eligible for shift differentials, premiums for licenses, and other wage premiums as governed by the collective bargaining agreement.
