Sandia Preparatory School is seeking a Director of Development to oversee and manage the School's comprehensive fundraising program to raise $1 million+ annually through major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. The successful candidate will direct the Development Team and work closely with the Head of School and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies. The qualified person will have a proven record of fundraising performance and a deep knowledge of the fundraising cycle. This role will manage the work of the Alumni Director and the Development Coordinator.

Responsibilities
The Director of Development is responsible for establishing a culture of philanthropy within the SPS community in addition to setting the strategic direction for development. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals, including the cultivation and recognition of our donors.
Manage a portfolio of high net worth donors and prospects, developing and implementing tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans.
Create and manage an annual calendar of Development and Alumni activities in coordination with the Head of School, Director of Advancement, and Director of Marketing.
Coordinate volunteer teams and solicit sponsorships for special events that include a gala, golf tournament, Alumni Weekend, and Grandparents’ Day.
Direct annual employee giving campaign.
Oversee the membership and stewardship of giving societies, including Society1966 for major donors and the Simms Society for planned giving.
Work closely with the Alumni Director to support connections with Sandia Prep’s 2,100+ base of alumni living around the world.
Research and apply to foundations for grant awards for various programs as needed. Manage all aspects of post-award grants including reporting requirements.
Solicit and steward endowment funds.
Act as liaison to Development Committee of the SPS Board of Trustees, collaborating with committee chair(s) on fundraising campaigns.
Assume responsibility for managing the department's budget.
Collaborate with Marketing Department to articulate and communicate the role of fundraising at an independent school.
Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers.
Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
