The Institute on Inequalities in Global Health (IIGH) at the Keck School of Medicine is looking for a detail-oriented, experienced and organized Program Manager to join the team at the University of Southern California (USC). At the USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health, we tackle existing and emerging global health concerns bringing together the many academic disciplines needed to address them. We work with partners at USC and around the world to address health-related disparities and inequalities, taking a multidisciplinary approach to advance the evidence base about what works, train the next generation of leaders, and inform public policy.
Working closely with the IIGH Director and IIGH leadership as appropriate, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations for the Instituteâs various education, research and policy programs, as well as supporting and executing the Instituteâs organizational and strategic vision. The ideal candidate for this position will bring administrative experience in project, program and staff management. In addition, she/he/they should possess a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential to the success of this role, as well as the ability to work with team members, faculty, students, university partners and external partners.
Key Functions
Manages day-to-day operations, including HR/hiring needs and accounting, administration and reconciliation of budget, and revenue management.
Supports Institute leadership in managing and executing organizational vision, strategic planning, operational strategy and hiring needs. Develops and recommends program operating and administrative policies.
Manages the administrative needs of sponsored projects (grants and gifts), including contracts, vendor payments, etc.
Monitors actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement institute-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operational planning. Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria.
Develops and manages project budgets. Provides financial status and projections reports as needed.
Prepares status reports and project plans, progress and results of activities. Develops, enhances and maintains information systems to support project operations.
Manages effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention of IIGH staff. Supports the hiring and onboarding of independent contractors and vendors as needed.
Manages staff assigned to the program. Recommends organizational structure, reporting relationships and staffing needs based on program goals. Makes hiring, promotional and salary decisions in accordance with university policy.
Develops marketing and promotional strategies for the Instituteâs various programs and supports event planning. Oversees development, preparation and editing of press releases, publications, newsletters, articles, annual report and/or related communications materials as assigned.
Coordinates and/or links project operations with other administrative functions on and off campus and/or within the school, department or division.
Represents University/IIGH as assigned or appropriate.
Stays current on university policies, procedures and agency regulations pertaining to research, education and student affairs.
Qualifications
Masterâs degree required, preferably in educational or business administration (or related field).
Minimum three (3) years of project/program management experience required, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
Strong analytical, managerial, organizational, writing and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and communicating the status of these tasks to Institute leadership and colleagues.

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000- $118,000.
