Plan and implement a coordinated program of stewardship, engagement and solicitation activities for the University of Chicago Womenâ™s Board.
Drive strategy for the Womenâ™s Board program in close partnership with the groupâ™s Chair, Executive Committee and other key stakeholders. Align Womenâ™s Board program activities with the Universityâ™s overall stewardship and philanthropic engagement goals.
Plan and implement a series of intellectual engagement programs throughout the academic year with the goal of providing Women's Board members the opportunity of fuller participation in the life of the University of Chicago.
Build strong internal relationships with staff and faculty to source ideas and build a strong pipeline of programming, potential speakers, and unique engagement experiences on campus.
Conceive and implement special fundraising and cultivation events in support of Womenâ™s Board programmatic priorities.
Manage annual fundraising campaign for the Women's Board Grant Fund, planning and implementing strategies to grow the Grant Fund from mid- to high 6-figures to $1M+ each year. Develop and drive an overall strategy to achieve annual fundraising goals. Be accountable for achieving fundraising and activity goals personally and on behalf of the Womenâ™s Board program overall.
Manage a personal portfolio of individual Womenâ™s Board members capable of making gifts to the University of $100,000 and up. Co-manage the prospect engagement of Womenâ™s Board members in collaboration and partnership with other Alumni Relations & Development staff.
Work closely with Womenâ™s Board Chair, members of the Executive Committee, Steering Committee and other groups in planning and implementing a robust annual Womenâ™s Board program. Help recruit, manage, and steward volunteers. Provide oversight and support of Womenâ™s Board committee activities. Together with these volunteers, develop and implement strategies for Womenâ™s Board membership recruitment and retention.
Assess and continually improve the overall experience and impact of the Womenâ™s Board program. Increase Womenâ™s Board annual giving levels and identify opportunities for increased engagement in philanthropic initiatives.
Plan and implement the annual Women's Board's Grant Fund program, sourcing funding proposals from across the University for projects related to faculty research, student life, arts and cultural institutions and community outreach. Recruit a Grant Committee, oversee its process, the creation of materials, and manage communications and interactions with grant applicants. Explore meaningful stewardship opportunities with Womenâ™s Board Grant recipients to further engage members of the Womenâ™s Board with these important University projects.
Coach, manage and develop the Womenâ™s Board staff, seeking to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness in pursuing Womenâ™s Board program goals.
Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions and with an eye towards broadly diversifying the advancement profession.
Provides specialized professional oversight to fundraising operations for a school or department of the University. Participates in the development of fundraising goals, policies and short and long-term strategies. Assesses, analyzes, and evaluates fundraising programs, specialized projects, or major events. Identifies problem areas or need for change and provides recommendations for modifications or adjustments.
Identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects. Develops strategies for cultivating participation.
Leads the preparation of annual development reports assessing progress toward achievement of goals. Provides expertise to analyze and evaluate information to identify trends and patterns, evaluates strategies, and makes recommendations.
Participates in the development of school or department fiscal year operating budget. Develops and manages programs or event budget.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelorâ™s degree.
Advanced degree.
Experience:
Experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience.
Experience in leading a project team or managing staff.
Experience managing volunteers.
Experience developing, and monitoring budgets.
Demonstrated experience in cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors, sales, client development or similar field.Â
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's donor relationship management system and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
Standard office environment.
Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
Work evenings and weekends as needed.
This position is located in Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court.
