Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, Annual Giving Programs, the Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving creates and cultivates a personal connection between the Caltech Fund and our most generous annual donors. Managing a portfolio of leadership-level donors, the Associate Director is responsible for growing revenue within the Caltech Fund's highest giving levels, identifying opportunities and strategies to prospect, cultivate, acquire, and upgrade valued donors to the fund, and being a true strategic partner within the annual giving team who understands the needs and motivations of Caltech Fund supporters
The Associate Director will engage in and refine frontline fundraising activities to acquire and upgrade top-level annual giving donors, as well as prospect and cultivate new donors and emerging gift opportunities for Caltech. This fundraiser will be an experienced gift officer with an appetite for setting, evaluating, and exceeding revenue goals through both established fundraising best practices as well as emerging trends and modern approaches within the industry.
Essential Job Duties
Manage a portfolio of leadership annual donors making large annual contributions through the Caltech Fund.
Prospect, qualify, cultivate, and acquire mid- to major-level gifts to bridge annual fund donors with larger gift opportunities and motivations.
Set, track, and stay accountable to individual fundraising goals.
Develop strategy and solicitation cycles for donors to the Caltech Fund Catalyst program-a leadership annual giving society-and provide personal engagement and a year-round experience.
Manages Reunion class fundraising, including identifying, recruiting, and training volunteers and champions.
Strategizes with Caltech Fund's integrated marketing team to concept and direct giving society and reunion communication needs and marketing strategies.
Works seamlessly with Caltech Fund's integrated marketing and annual giving team to create integrated communications touchpoints and make use of new technologies to enhance the donor experience, including email, text, web, and social media platforms.
Coordinates and collaborates closely with colleagues across AAR, including major gift officers and development program team members to cultivate and capitalize on gift opportunities and donor engagement.
Evolves and grows society-based giving strategies, including concepting and recommending additional recognition programs, committees, events, and levels.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
3 or more years of experience with fundraising as a gift officer, or equivalent fundraiser, development, or B2B or B2C sales roles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational and time management skills are crucial.
Enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity about higher education development and nonprofit fundraising.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a development or annual giving department or equivalent nonprofit fundraising environment, especially within higher education.
Experience with mail merge processes or other advanced Microsoft Outlook communications tools and features.
Experience with printed communications materials, such as direct mail and brochures.
Experience with event management and volunteer coordination.
