A Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of transfusion support for HSCT/BMT Transplant, Immunotherapy and Heme-Oncology patients at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages complex transfusion plans, and consults with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the Transfusion Services Office team to coordinate transfusion care of FHCC patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician.
Responsibilities
- Assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex transfusion issues in HSCT/BMT Transplant, Immunotherapy and Heme-Oncology patients. The successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and in collaboration with other physicians, the transfusion services office team and members of the care delivery team to manage transfusion plans.
- Order transfusion testing identified by the TSO RNs for example: platelet alloantibody work ups, HLA typing, titers, phenotyping and/or genomics
- Consult with the care team on complex transfusion cases and transfusion reaction prevention plans.
- Develop individual transfusion plans for HSCT/BMT Transplant, Immunotherapy and Heme-Oncology patients. . Review testing and transplant roadmap drafted by TSO RNs to provide transplant team and home provider with transfusion plan. Respond to events that warrant updates to the plan.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences to discuss, develop, and refine patient transfusion plans
- Educate providers on transfusion medicine
- Participate in transfusion quality committees

Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience as an ARNP or PA-C
- Strong communication skills are essential
- Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must! Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
- Experience working with patients with Heme Malignancies and Transplant is a plus
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Washington state licensure required
- DEA licensure required within 30 days of privileging
- EPIC experience required; prefer experience with CPOE
- Willingness to work on site at Fred Hutch and UW campus
This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. The annual base salary range for this position is from $111,748 to $176,634 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
