Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and the Liu Lab is looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join our group as a Clinical Research Coordinator - Exercise Physiologist. The goal of our lab is improving quality of life for persons living with advanced kidney disease (https://profiles.stanford.edu/243728). The primary duty of the Exercise Physiologist will be the development and implementation of a virtually delivered group exercise program targeting persons who are waiting for a kidney transplant. This duty will include the creation of tailored exercise prescriptions for participants, as well the monitoring of participants for exercise-related health events. The Exercise Physiologist will lead four to eight virtual group exercise sessions a week, which will have 2 to 7 participants per session.
A bachelor's degree in exercise science and prior experience in conduct of individual or group exercise classes is highly desirable. Prior experience delivering virtual exercise interventions (e.g. using Zoom/Teams platform to instruct clients) is also strongly preferred. In addition, the Exercise Physiologist will assist in activities related to the recruitment and retention of participants for the exercise sessions. The ideal candidate will possess certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine or hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. This position is a full time, hybrid position, with approximately 50% in-person duties. This position provides the unique opportunity (and privilege) to partner and interact frequently with persons who are on the cusp of a life-changing health event and to provide a potential therapy that will improve their health and quality of life.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF A RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Design and deliver virtual group exercise sessions for persons awaiting kidney transplant;
Conduct four to eight virtual group exercise sessions a week for 2 to 7 participants;
Assist in activities related to recruitment and retention of participants;
Collaborate with study team to develop and implement protocol for the monitoring, and reporting of adverse health events;
Monitor participants for exercise-related health events;
Assist with managing systems to organize, collect, report, and monitor participant information;
Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor's degree;
2+ years of related experience;
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field;
Graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in exercise science or doctorate in physical therapy;
Expertise in design and conduct of an exercise sessions for adults with medical conditions is preferred;
Good understanding of clinical terminology and procedures gained through experience is desired;
Ability to adapt to changing priorities;
Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively;
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications;
Valid Driver License required, BLS training (which will be provided if needed).
