An A/R Refund Representative- Refund rep is responsible for the daily review of credits for all Insurance and patient cash. This process is in a combination of electronic remits and manual batches.
Process overpayments with backup for Patient overpayments
Process overpayments with backup on Insurance payments
Review and process letters from Insurance payors requesting refund. Utilize Followup Supervisor and Leads for assistance to verify amount is correct per letter request
Understand and apply AR Codes correctly
Read EOB and determine payment and contractual adjustment to correct HAR
Identify numerous payor websites to pull EOB backup for refunds
Maintain relationship with Insurance vendors for clear, concise communication on refund questions
Maintain and work from spreadsheets as needed
Work with AP group on issues with checks, from check run as needed
Understand and meet performance standards
High school graduate or equivalent
Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse, navigate computer programs, and use email in a business setting
Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear and concise manner
One year experience in Patient Accounting
Understanding of debits and credits
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center facilities. Exceptions exist only for employees whose positions are fully remote, with no required access to campus. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees requiring access to campus must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.53 to $29.23 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
