The University of Tennessee Foundation is seeking an Executive Director of Development to serve on the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Advancement Team in Knoxville. The executive director of development provides strategic leadership for the major gift and principal gift development efforts in the UT Institute of Agriculture for its two colleges--the Herbert College of Agriculture and the College of Veterinary Medicine and its two units--UT AgResearch and UT Extension. This includes goal setting and planning. The position will manage four directors of development and one administrative assistant. It will also coordinate with annual giving, stewardship, and alumni staff within UTIA and collaborate with leadership development staff within UTK.
The position will work with the chief advancement officer of UTIA to manage the donor portfolio for the institute and will encompass high-level interaction with key UTIA administrators and deans.
Manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift and principal gift prospects and manage advisory advocate groups for each unit as engaged prospects. Will follow up and close gifts.
Lead effort (working with chief advancement officer) to recruit and retain development directors. Will manage each position and help strategize on developing, maintaining, and updating major gift portfolios.
Facilitate the dean's engagement in development for both colleges and both units to identify major gift fundraising priorities. Work directly with dean and development director for the college of veterinary medicine to assess and cultivate grateful clients, alumni, and friends. Work directly with the Herbert College dean to identify prospects and organize the dean's involvement.
Collaborate with annual giving, stewardship, and alumni staff to help identify and build the future major gift prospects.
