Position: Managing Editor
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Communications
Location: Washington, DC/Remote
Are you a creative communicator with project management and editing skills? The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) facilitates some of the largest domestic and international conferences in the aviation industry and they are seeking a Managing Editor. This is an exciting opportunity to manage content for NBAA’s publications and podcasts! NBAA offers flexible hours with remote/work-from-home flexibility, generous benefits, and a collegial work environment in the heart of the nation’s capital. As a prospective and/or new employee, you will be required to comply with the company’s vaccination protocol.
As the Managing Editor, you will oversee the day-to-day production and editorial development of Business Aviation Insider (BAI), including managing content and conducting publication research for improvements. You will manage NBAA’s editorial contractors and freelance writers and attend planning meetings to develop concepts and identify stories. The Managing Editor also recruits podcast subject-matter experts, coordinates with podcast production vendor staff, and produces NBAA podcasts. This position reports to the SVP of Communications and supervises the Senior Graphic Designer.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or related area plus a minimum of five years of editing experience in a publishing or communications environment. This position requires excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and project management skills and knowledge of publishing software and standards. Knowledge of the business aviation industry is required.
