Nearly 400 students ages three to 14 attend our school with a range of learning differences, from Attention Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to speech, language, and reading delays such as dyslexia. Stephen Gaynor School’s Placement Office is devoted to working with each student and family whose child is preparing to transition from Gaynor to their next school.
This role will be an integral part of the Placement Office, working closely with the Director of Placement, the current Placement Associate, and the Gaynor school community. We are seeking a person with impressive organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and experience in a school is a plus. This person will be expected to communicate with staff, parents, and other schools to answer Placement questions, arrange meetings/events, and oversee specific tasks and projects.Associate will be responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, and sending student documents and forms.
Manage specific Placement projects and tasks
Coordinate, schedule, and participate in placement related meetings
Schedule placement team meetings, parent meetings, etc.
Collect, organize and maintain all current materials for ongoing schools
Create, organize and maintain all student files and documents
Will be responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, and sending student documents and forms.
Organize and prepare mailing of school reports, transcripts, recommendation forms, and student writing samples
Create, track, and maintain checklists for parents, teachers and students
Assist in organization and execution of all Placement Office events
Create, execute and track all parent and student surveys
Collaborate with the placement team to develop a list of recommended schools for specific students
Teach a Transition Prep class to help students prepare for the application process
Work with students as needed
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Placement Office
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, Education or psychology preferred
Master’s degree in a related field is a plus
Experience working with elementary middle school aged students and families is preferred
Experience working with or knowledge about children with learning differences is a plus
Ability to initiate and implement projects and see through to completion
Strong communication and organizational skills (both written and verbal)
Detailed-oriented with strong time management skills
Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Experience working with Google Suite (e.g. Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.
