Friends School of Baltimore seeks a full-time Development Associate, available immediately. This 12-month, full time, hourly position serves as administrative and programmatic support for the Director of Development, the major gifts team and the Parents Association. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in supporting Friends School’s mission through the work of the Development Office and a commitment to high-end customer (constituent) service.
Responsibilities: The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary administrative support for the Director of Development and the Director of Major and Planned Giving, assisting with top prospects, volunteer committees, gift efforts, events, stewardship programs, outreach and record-keeping, and other selected projects. Prepare meeting reminders, customized acknowledgement letters and other materials, as requested.
- Support the major gifts, planned gifts, and stewardship operations of the Development Office, including donor acknowledgement and stewardship, events planning and logistics, data entry and action tracking, content development, calendar management and appointment scheduling, travel arrangements, minutes and note-taking. Maintain the director’s calendar and the overall Development Office master calendar. Set up meetings, donor lunches and dinners locally and regionally, as dir Assist with morning, night and weekend events and meetings, as needed.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Development, serve as the administrative support for the Friends School Parents Association, helping with calendaring and logistics, serving as a problem-solver, and working with volunteers to lift up their work.
- Provide logistical support and take on responsibilities for important annual events, such as major donor dinners/receptions and cultivation events, grandparents’ day activities and Alumni Weekend. Assist with tracking and/or proofing event activities as needed (entering attendance; payment information; credit card processing; payment reports and deposits; and event report generation).
- Ensure the efficient day–to-day operations of the Development Office. This includes submitting facilities work orders, tracking purchase orders, reconciling deposits and monitoring budgets as directed, monitor inventory, order supplies and organize common areas.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in supporting nonprofits through fundraising, and specifically, the Friends School’s mission through the work of the Development Office.
- Commitment to working 40 hours per week on campus.
- A positive and professional demeanor and a desire to provide concierge level customer service.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding high standards of integrity.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; including Outlook, Word and Excel, and Zoom.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully balance priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Approach new projects and skill development with curiosity and enthusiasm.
- Ability to learn quickly and work with a dynamic constituent relations team, and at same time, work on projects independently.
- Willingness to attend and support early morning, evening and weekend events/meetings.
- Understand the importance of attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment and changing priorities.
- Familiarity with database work (such as Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge, PCR, etc.) a plus!
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
