The HIMS Department at Banner Home Care and Hospice is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of confidential health records. HIMS analyzes medical records for quantitative and qualitative completion based on the facility's medical staff rules and regulations, company policy, and state, federal and other regulatory agency requirements. This department performs a variety of HIMS work, such as record completion, document imaging, release of information, and providing services and information to physicians and staff
Your role in the HIMS Department at Banner Home Care and Hospice is performing quality control processes for the electronic medical record (EMR) as well as processing patient requests for medical records. .Potential candidate will train in the Gilbert, AZOR Greeley, CO office and once trained can work a hybrid schedule. Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (occasional holiday rotation, weekdays ONLY).

Inpatient Home care is also available for respite care and symptom management. The Banner Hospice Team can provide comfort to the patient and family by alleviating symptoms, by providing meaningful help and by creating an environment to develop lasting final memories.
POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all supporting documents required by government agencies and other insurance companies for appropriate reimbursement of all home care product lines.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Obtains and maintains physician orders and other supporting documents to ensure reimbursement from government agencies and insurance companies.
2. Tracks receipt of documents, orders, and/or various metrics as required for compliance to regulations in each patient chart.
3. Acts as an internal resource for qualifying criteria, payment limitations and required documentation.
4. Works collaboratively with community physicians and referral sources to obtain necessary documents required for care delivery.
5. Completes medical records functions at the local level as required for the preparation of any patient medical records or internal audits.
6. This position is responsible for physician orders and documentation for all home care product lines. The incumbent makes final independent decisions on the accuracy of the documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Skills and abilities normally gained with 2-3 years of experience in patient accounts, pharmacy or equipment intake. This position requires a thorough understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements of home health and related billing for government and third party agencies to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-2 years experience in clerical, customer relations and/or customer service departments is preferred. Home Care experience preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
