We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II with prior work experience to provide administrative and managerial support to Dr. Ulrike (Riki) Peters for large complex collaborative research projects. Supported by NCI-funding we are studying the impact of genetic variants across the genome, as well as interactions of genetic variants with lifestyle and environmental risk factors. We are also conducting large-scale studies to analyze molecular and genetic characteristics of colorectal tumors and their microenvironment in relation to host genomes, lifestyle and environmental risk factors, and survival.
The candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the study operations, including using independent judgment in:
Ensuring that research is implemented in a timely manner, including developing and applying study protocols, working with the team to prioritize staff workload, ensuring study-wide communication, and managing program and study affairs.
Coordinate biospecimen for research projects, including sample tracking, shipment, processing of various types of biospecimens.
Supervising staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and handling disciplinary action, terminations, and layoffs. These staff include a project coordinator, a programmer/bioinformatician, and statistical research analysts
Overseeing multiple budgets, including projecting spending, allocating resources to support research, long-term planning for personnel costs, and preparing budgets and budget justifications for new grant applications.
Working with the project coordinator to ensure that all required Institutional Review Board, study-specific approvals, paper proposals, and funding agency reports are completed, produced, and distributed accurately in a timely manner.
Support for grant application, including development of grant administrative documents, such as enrolment tables or data sharing plan as well as close coordination with the grants administrator.
Attend and help prepare for annual investigator meetings.
Coordinate space and equipment planning and utilization, evaluating current project needs, and anticipating and planning for future needs.
BA/BS degree with at least seven years project coordination experience in a research setting is required (with all years of experience occurring post-graduation), or a minimum of five years post-masters with a Master's degree in a related field is ideal.
Strong experience with budgeting, and grants and contracts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this work will be done within a collaborative consortia setting.
Excellent organizational skills, the capacity to multi-task, and ability to work on multi-center/multi-disciplinary teams are essential.
