Summary: This position plays an integral support role in ASTHO's environmental health portfolio. This team member will work with the Director, Environmental Health, to complete activities and deliverables related to ASTHOs Climate Change Portfolio and the Environmental Public Health Tracking Fellowship Program. They will assist in the development and completion of various activities, including the provision of high-quality technical assistance, management of peer communities, development of training materials, publication of issue/policy briefs, and executing webinars and virtual convenings. Additional responsibilities include supporting cross-cutting federally-funded environmental health projects as needed.
Develops and independently completes assigned deliverables outlined in the Climate Change Portfolio and Environmental Public Health Tracking Fellowship Program.
Provides superb and timely member services, including the management of peer groups, support to fellows and grantees, response to technical assistance, delivery of webinars, and outreach and engagement to state and territorial health agency staff.
Researches, collects, and synthesizes information for technical assistance requests from ASTHO members related to climate change and other priority environmental health issues.
Develops and distributes various environmental health resources relevant to state and territorial health departments, including issue/policy briefs, training materials, and legislative tracking reports.
Monitors progress of project deliverables and goals and oversees the evaluation of project activities and outcomes.
Regularly reports on project activities such as: writing progress reports and providing monthly project officer updates.
Engages with key stakeholders, partners, and project officers to ensure project deliverables are met.
Represents ASTHO at national meetings and conferences to promote ASTHO???s projects and resources.
Uses independent judgment in completing activities while operating under general supervision.
Functions effectively, respectfully, and cohesively in a team environment.
Assists ASTHO's Health Security Unit with emergency response activities during public health emergencies as needed.
Bachelor's degree in public health, health policy, environmental health, or related field; Master's degree with a focus in environmental health or public health preferred.
2-3 years of experience in areas such as public health, environmental health, or non-profits.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to promptly manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff and toward shared objectives.
Demonstrated experience facilitating large groups both in-person and in a virtual setting.
Ability to develop collaborative networks and represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences when needed.
Ability to travel up to 15% of time to attend meetings, conferences and participate in site visits.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and association management platforms.
