The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, a national trade association engaged in government affairs and advocacy on behalf of the responsible pet care community, is hiring for the new position of Membership Director. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the Director is a results-driven position responsible for developing and implementing successful membership recruitment, engagement and retention programs and initiatives and managing membership service, tracking and reporting.
In collaboration with senior staff, develop a plan for membership recruitment, engagement and retention including goals, strategies, tactics, and budget. Execute, evaluate ROI, and adjust plan as needed to meet or exceed membership growth and revenue targets.
Develop and implement a program to optimize the member journey from onboarding through renewal, informing and engaging members and ultimately increasing retention.
Act as the internal point-of-contact and expert on the AMS system, managing all functions of the member database such as record maintenance, data integrity and metric and trend reporting.
Regularly assess, recommend and implement changes to improve effectiveness and efficiencies in membership service processes.
Collaborate with the Communications staff to develop/update membership collateral, website pages and other membership resources.
Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Attributes:
College degree and five or more years of experience in membership recruitment and management at a trade association or nonprofit.
Demonstrated achievements in membership growth and retention, experience utilizing membership acquisition and retention marketing and engagement strategies and tactics.
High level of proficiency using AMS system(s), and experience with email marketing (CMS) and web content management platforms. Experience with NetForum and Wordpress ideal.
Required: Microsoft Office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent professional communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.
A relationship-builder able to effectively engage members, persuade prospects and connect with other stakeholders.
Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills and judgement with ability to effectively set, manage and meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and pivot when needed.
Self-motivated and goal-driven, able to work independently with a high level of initiative, perseverance, and commitment as well collaboratively in a small-office team environment.
Availability for occasional travel (approximately 3-6 times a year).
