Baruch College – Assistant or Associate Professor of Race, Equity and Policy
The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs seeks an engaged scholar whose teaching and research focuses on social justice, racial equity issues, and related public policies. We are especially interested in a candidate who is able to work collaboratively with faculty on developing classes, scholarly publications and community-based projects related to social and racial justice, and engaging CUNY students and alumni in programs that promote diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that help to ameliorate racial and ethnic hostilities while generating greater interracial understanding. In service to this agenda, we are particularly interested in candidates capable of teaching our core course on “Race, Equity and Policy.”
Baruch College of the City University of New York is a public, urban institution with an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. It is a catalyst for the economic and social mobility of its graduates. Within that context, the Marxe School offers undergraduate (BSPA) and graduate-level degrees in public policy and administration (MPA), and higher education administration (MSEd-HEA) and international affairs (MIA). The Marxe School also houses cutting-edge policy research programs including the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research, the New York Federal Statistical Research Data Center, and the Center for Nonprofit Strategy and Management. Given one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation and our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development, the Marxe School provides an opportunity for faculty and students to connect with the more comprehensive worlds of public and international affairs. The requirements for the position include:
- An earned Ph.D. or equivalent in a related field prior to the teaching start date for the fall 2022 - Demonstrated scholarship and research agenda in field of social and racial justice policy. - Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds - Evidence of teaching effectiveness in multiple modalities - Evidence of capability to work collaboratively to enhance the School and its Programs and College
