This Institute on Aging (IOA) seeks an individual to join a multidisciplinary team of researchers engaged in a variety of applied and evaluative studies focused primarily on studies concerning older adults. The Senior Research Assistant works with IOA faculty and graduate students, student workers, and community partners. The person in this position will be assigned to complete research activities on two currently funded research projects and could be assigned to work on future projects.
This is a non-tenure track faculty appointment for a Senior Research Assistant l. The appointment is fixed-term and has a variable FTE. Although the position can be funded at .50 to 1.0 FTE, the preference is for full-time (1.0). The position is benefits eligible. The current BHI contract, which accounts for .50 of the position, ends June 30, 2023, at which point a renewed 2-year agreement is anticipated. The CBC position has funding at approximately .50 FTE through December 30, 2022. Both projects have been continuously funded since 2014. The position is renewable, depending on funding and ability to successfully complete assigned work. Flexible work schedules are possible.
Maste'rs degree or higher degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH) in a social science or health-related field (for example, gerontology, sociology, psychology, public health, economics, or political science).
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of quantitative data analyses, preferably using the Stata software program. Candidates who use SPSS or R will also be considered.
Two years or more of progressively responsible research or evaluation experience and demonstrated ability to independently conduct statistical analysis.
Experience with management of large, complex datasets including cleaning, extraction, merging, validation of data.
Interest in or experience conducting independent research with a focus on older adults, policies and/or programs and/or behavioral and mental health services for older adults.
Ability to coauthor project reports and contribute to scholarly manuscripts.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a small team.
Competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and Google Drive applications.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, oral communication and writing skills.
Ability to present data findings to a variety of audiences, including stakeholders, general public, and other community partners,
Ability to conduct longitudinal analyses.
Ability to represent data visually, including charts, tables, and maps.
Ability to develop survey questions, and understanding of sampling for survey research.
Ability to collaborate with community and other partnerships (e.g., with local and state agencies, nonprofit organizations, service providers).
Ability to conduct qualitative data collection and analysis.
