Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains, Immigration Legal Services (ILS) program is staffed with an experienced Immigration Attorney. The ILS program provides immigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees in the Colorado region. The primary focus of this position is to consult with clients to determine legal options under U.S. Immigration Laws and oversees staff in preparing applications, supporting documentation, maintaining case files and overall program and grant management. Additionally, the incumbent serves as manager of the ILS department and accordingly, as a part of the Senior Staff for the division (to include ILS, the Refugee & Asylee Programs and the Disaster Response Program).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct consultation with clients to determine legal options.
Maintain accurate and complete case files.
Maintain case load and legal fee system.
Manage, train and coordinate all Immigration Legal Services program personnel including but not limited to, (paralegals/Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited) Representatives).
Prepare family-based and naturalization applications and supporting documentation.
Advise, counsel clients in cases before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Supervise law student interns.
Research United States Immigration laws using Immigration of Federal Regulations and Code of Federal Regulations, novel issues of law.
Assist in Administrative office tasks.
Maintain positive work environment.
Conduct community outreach presentations on immigration issues.
Fiscal budget management and grant writing and reporting.
Serve as liaison with private bar, governmental agencies other non-profit organizations.
Attend trainings and research United States Immigration Laws and Regulations.
Active membership and participation in local American Immigration Lawyer's Association events, meetings, trainings and other relevant immigration group memberships.
Serves as a back-up point of contact for the division and assists the Division Director with duties when needed.
Keeps staff informed regarding agency policies, organizational information and changes in federal, state and local regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience researching legal issues using Code of Federal Regulations, Immigration and Nationality Act, Board of Immigration Appeals case law, Circuit Court of Appeals decisions, Agency memorandum, etc.
Experience using Immigration Software, Word, Excel, Email, etc.
Ability to work in close collaboration with other nonprofit, government or private agencies.
Experience working with foreign nationals, cross cultural sensitivity.
