CVVThe American Association for Justice (AAJ®) is seeking a Director of Information Technology for its Information Technology (IT) department. AAJ works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to seek justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others—even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations. The Director of Information Technology leads the Association’s IT function by performing managing the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of information and telecommunications systems and related information resources operations. Job duties include: • Strategically direct IT with a major focus on the continued development of the current AAJ website, influencing the business direction in new and existing products, services, and supporting systems as well as upcoming integration efforts with new systems and applications. • Manage and direct IT staff, outside consultants and vendors. • Develop IT business plans and budget plans that support both the long-term and the short-term objectives of the association. • Participate in the development of the strategic information technology plan, processes and solutions. • Maintain project controls that accurately reflect completed work against project plans, schedules and budgets, and ensure user/management involvement at appropriate milestones. • Improves existing software programs and develops new applications to meet future business needs. • Hire, train and develop appropriate IT staff. • Develop and maintain strong relationship with senior management team, maintain effective relationship with end users, and coordinate and drive the business relationship with key external business partners. • Direct the development and reporting of performance metrics and direct actions to continuously improve IT systems and services. • Research and make recommendations on hardware and software purchases. • Negotiate with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions. • Represent the Association at external meetings when applicable. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences-related field or equivalent experience. Trade association and/or nonprofit experience strongly preferred. • Eight plus years managing IT systems, with significant experience managing IT in a Windows environment. Ten plus years overall experience in IT. • Prior supervisory experience managing IT staff preferred. • Significant accomplishments in implementing and effectively managing development and implementation of software applications in a Microsoft environment. • Significant experience managing support activities for mission-critical ecommerce applications. • Experience with financial management systems (FMS) and/or association management systems (AMS) highly desired. • Experience managing enterprise-wide infrastructure and security. • Experience developing, maintaining and testing disaster recovery plan. • Significant experience with vendor oversight, technology negotiations, and ensuring vendor compliance with SLA. • Effectively communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. • Developing effective written policies, procedures and standards. • Managing multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff. • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
