The New School's College of Performing Arts (CoPA), comprised of Mannes School of Music, School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and School of Drama, is seeking a highly qualified Director of Administration and Special Projects to join its senior leadership team. Reporting to the Executive Dean, the Director of Administration and Special Projects is critical in advancing the bold and aggressive vision of the college, managing high-level strategic initiatives, communicating objectives between schools and departments, and overseeing the daily operations of the college administration.
The Director of Administration and Special Projects manages and supports the ongoing rapid pace of change at CoPA and is a champion for the mission and vision of the college. They will build strong relationships within CoPA and The New School in order to advocate for the priorities of the college and its three schools while fostering a warm, collaborative, and inclusive environment of students, faculty, and staff.
The Director of Administration and Special Projects is a systems thinker who shares a love of the performing arts and performing arts education. They create and evolve structures that support, scale, and sustain core programs, strategic initiatives, and special projects. This includes identifying opportunities to improve and align the operations of the college and its programs, managing administrative office space and equipment, leading high profile special projects such as artists and organizations in residence and hallmark special productions and performances, and building alignment amongst the students, faculty, staff, board members, and other key stakeholders across CoPA's three schools.

This is an onsite position with opportunities for some remote work throughout the year. Some nights and weekends are required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic Planning and Implementation (40%)
Serve as a member of the CoPA Dean's Council; collaborate on high-level strategy and decision-making
Organize and prioritize critical issues and projects with and on behalf of the Executive Dean
Oversee strategic initiatives from planning through execution
Serve as a conduit in communicating mission, vision, and strategic priorities to staff and faculty throughout the college
Represent CoPA with internal and external senior leaders and strategic partners
Assist in the onboarding of new full-time faculty, staff, and select part-time faculty
Direct departments and operations in need of leadership or support when vacancies occur
Work with staff across the college to document business processes; identify opportunities to improve systems and processes
Troubleshoot enterprise level challenges as they arise.
Ensure that the daily business operations of the college run smoothly, effectively, and efficiently
Work with the Vice Dean for Finance and Administration to assign staff and full-time faculty to administrative spaces
Manage office infrastructure, assets, and supplies
