Summary: Responsible for developing and reviewing cross-cutting activities and advising in support of ASTHO???s health equity, antiracism, diversity and inclusion policies and programs.
Develops organizational statements and drafts policy related to health and racial equity.
Creates strategic and operational plan metrics that mark success in advancing equity programs.
Engages experts and stakeholders in the field of equity, antiracism, and inclusion to help create a learning culture and knowledge base for member agencies.
Assumes responsibility for related projects and activities associated with the health equity division.
Shares information, both internally and externally, related to emerging and current public health issues.
Creates a universal (ASTHO) understanding of ???health equity??? to include relevant language and key focal points.
Provides training to staff on equity and diversity issues in public health.
Serves as a liaison and resource to ASTHO policy committees.
Works with consultants and staff to create state programs such as Health Equity Zones.
Provides advice and support for internal and external diversity programs and initiatives.
Provides direction to strategic policy development and analysis for national and state health and racial equity issues.
8+ years of experience in progressively more responsible leadership positions addressing and managing issues related to disparities, inequity, racism, and diversity.
Master???s degree in Public Health or related field preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of public health issues and trends.
Policy development experience.
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Experience working with health agency leadership.
Ability to develop accountability measures.
Fund raising/grant development experience.
