Provide support for programs and events focused on providing significant engagement and philanthropic opportunities for current students and first year alumni.
Work closely with the Associate Director to implement creative strategies to enhance the culture of philanthropy and to develop long-lasting philanthropic relationships throughout the 4-year student experience including the annual Senior Class Gift (SCG) Campaign and the advisement, management, and expansion of the Student Alumni Committee (SAC).
Collaborate with College Programming Office for large scale events.
In partnership with the Associate Director, execute new philanthropy education initiatives with campus partners.
Work with and support the SAC, identifying new members, involvement activities and leadership opportunities.
Work with and support the SCG Committee comprised of 30+ student volunteers, including an annual new member recruitment and training process.
Help train students in peer-to-peer fundraising.
In partnership with the Associate Director and events staff, plan and execute 5+ large-scale (300+ guests) events annually and other events as proposed.
Write and manage student communications, including letters authored by alumni, student-focused emails, and mail solicitations.
Some travel, nights and weekend hours.
Support other alumni relations programs as assigned.
Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
Develops, plans, implements and maintains alumni programs and volunteer activities that connect students and alumni in any existing or new alumni clubs and formed committees.
Identifies, cultivates, and trains volunteers and alumni leaders to help with committees and design programs to engage students and alumni in meaningful ways to advance objectives of the alumni association and broader University.
Performs other related work as needed.
Professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience.
Well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to manage student volunteers and young alumni.
Experiences working creativity to help brainstorm ideas to develop new programs that encourage students to think philanthropically.
Knowledge of data management and survey tools.
Strong commitment to customer service.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's donor relationship management system and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write effectively.
High energy, goal-oriented and strong attention to detail.
Self-motivation and the ability to take initiative.
Manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
Act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Work both independently and within a team to initiate, organize, and complete program/project plans.
Handle comfortably multiple projects with competing priorities.
Standard office environment.
Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
Work evenings and weekends.
