San Francisco Contemporary Music Players (SFCMP) seeks a part-time Business Manager with a passion for contemporary music and community to oversee day-to-day business transactions of the organization.
A San Francisco-based chamber orchestra with a leading local and national presence, SFCMP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by an Executive Director with an ensemble roster of twenty-two musicians led by an Artistic Director supported by a committed Board of Directors and additional part-time staff.
This position includes accounting, marketing, development, ticketing, event management and community engagement support. The new position of Business Manager will play a vital role in helping the organization run smoothly and effectively in their daily operations. Remote work / Flexible hours (except at events in SF).

Responsibilities of the Business Manager include the following:
Manage day-to-day operations (including office administration, database maintenance, box office, general email and phone communications, etc.)
Meet weekly with Executive Director
Finance and Accounting
Maintain the organization’s financial record-keeping and reporting
Process monthly payroll with the assistance of SFCMP’s bookkeeper and Executive Director
Keep current on state business license and filings, insurance payments, and other compliance filings
Development and Fundraising
Support the Executive Director to develop and execute fundraising strategies, including appeal letters, donor cultivation; regular fundraising reports
Log and acknowledge gifts using patron management database, Salesforce
Marketing and Box Office (onsite responsibilities may be negotiated)
Coordinate email, social media, and postal mail correspondence to patrons
Oversee Box Office at live events. Take possession of, and bring to each concert/special event, necessary production materials (concert programs, cash box/credit card readers, and display signage)
Collect photos and publicity information and organize
Support MailChimp and social media distribution as needed
Manage archive of concert videos, historical concert programs, promotional photos, etc.

The Ideal Candidate
Is passionate about music and the arts
Has experience working in non-profit arts administration, or other relevant fields
Has exceptional communication and people skills; is able to establish and maintain positive relationships; maintains a calm and positive demeanor under pressure, especially when interacting with members of the public
Works independently and is self-motivated
Is flexible, open-minded, and thoughtful; can work well in a team
Is highly detail oriented and has strong time management skills
Is committed to diversity and equity and contributing to an inclusive environment
Is tech savvy and can master new software and databases quickly such as Salesforce, QuickBooks, MailChimp, VBO, DropBox, Google, Microsoft and Adobe Products and WordPress
Has experience with data management and gift processing and is familiar with IRS guidelines relating to nonprofits and charitable donations
This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Business Manager works remotely and can schedule work flexibly with the exception of meetings, concerts, and special events which require attendance at specific times. Note that night and weekend work is regularly required, as concerts and events often take place at these times.
Salaried non-exempt, $12,000/year ($1,000/mo.) approximately 7 hours per week which includes events.
Flexible hours; some nights and weekends sometimes required, including presence at all SFCMP concerts and major events. There are approximately 7 (mostly evening) events per year.
Legal authorization to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment.
Reimbursement for relocation expenses is not available.
