The Long Term Follow Up (LTFU) advanced practice provider (APP) provides care for cellular immunotherapy (IMTX) patients in the outpatient setting under the supervision of the attending physician. The LTFU APP is responsible for:
The primary care of the patient to include assessment, triage and management of the cellular immunotherapy patient as part of a collaborative team. Responsibilities include: obtaining medical history, performing physical examinations, reviewing and ordering diagnostic studies, radiographs and prescribing treatments. APPs perform bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, and monitor moderate sedation.
Serving as primary contact for patients and referring oncologists for patients discharged home from the IMTX service after completing therapy and monitoring.
Providing primary care of IMTX patients returning for LTFU visits.
Providing backup for IMTX APPs on an ad hoc basis.
Collaborating with IMTX Lead APP with study training/support for APPs rotating to IMTX.
Provide backup clinical coverage for Lead IMTX APP to allow for participation in administrative functions
Attend cellular infusions on the inpatient units on behalf of IMTX studys principal investigators (PIs).
Reviewing and consulting withPIs/attending physicianson follow up diagnostics and other protocol requirements for compliance with treatment protocols.
Review patients medical records to identify potential long-term complications of IMTX therapy
Collaborate with clinical trials PIs to review and aggregate data in support of publications on long term effects of IMTX therapy
Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant training program or appropriate Nurse Practitioner program and be able to practice in the state of Washington (licensed).
Have National Certification as appropriate for profession
Must be licensed for schedule II drug authority.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Basic computer skills are essential.
Must be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Must enjoy long-term relationships with patients undergoing intense therapy.
Oncology or BMT or immunotherapy experience preferred.

The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
