Compass High School is seeking a Long Term Sub English teacher to join our faculty for the 2021-22 school year. Compass specializes in the education of students with learning differences. Our school is truly a unique and rewarding place for teachers to work with students with special needs. Compass is a small school with a high level of cohesion and collaboration among its faculty. Parents are highly involved and supportive.
The successful candidate will be able to teach high school English at all four grade levels (9-12) (e.g. Language Arts and Writing, American Literature, World Literature, etc.) and to differentiate instruction for a range of learners. We are looking for a teacher who is creative and flexible, who uses multisensory teaching techniques, and who designs structured lessons. This candidate should develop, implement, assess and revise lesson plans and instructional materials, as well as providing a wide range of teaching strategies as an element of implementing individualized instruction. A California special education teaching credential or progress towards one is preferred, as well as subject matter competency in English. Experience teaching students with learning differences is desired.
The successful candidate will also be comfortable collaborating with fellow teachers and administrators and will be someone who is open to feedback. The ideal candidate should also be someone who is enthusiastic about participating in the community of the school and its initiatives.
