The Vaccines and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) of Fred Hutch is looking for a dynamic person to fill a Financial Analyst III position that will lead financial and budgetary analysis to support the decision making of the Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology (BBE) Program and specifically The Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research & Prevention (SCHARP), while sharing knowledge and skills with grants, finance, and administrative colleagues in the program and division. The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the BBE Program Operations Director with accountability to the SCHARP Managing Director.

The successful candidate will be action-oriented and think proactively and strategically. The ability to work independently and exercising good judgement when appropriate is essential to success in this position. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with the BBE Program Operations Director and the SCHARP leadership team to produce monthly finance and operations reports. This position also works closely with the BBE Research Administration team to manage data analysis for project budgets and create comprehensive views of the entire portfolio. The Financial analyst will develop models, dashboards, and tools to aid BBE, SCHARP, and VIDD leadership with predictive resource planning in a multi-grant-funded statistical and data management operations program.
Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis for leadership teams;
Present models, scenario planning, and financial insights to senior management to drive business decisions including budget planning, human resource management, and operations;
Contribute to annual budgeting processes;
Create and maintain dashboards in Tableau;
Update key financial driver information like faculty and staff FTE in financial planning and management tools;
Provide financial analysis and management of a complex portfolio of funding sources across PIs, programs, and the division;
Participate or lead special projects to improve financial analysis and planning tools and resources for the program and division as needed;
Maintain data integrity in reports and analyses through application of consistent and documented assumptions and rigorously evaluated source data;
Create ad hoc financial reports based on requests.
BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or relevant field and three years financial analysis/modeling experience, including familiarity with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and related skills, or equivalent combined years of education and experience;
Experience with a continuous process improvement, and the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes;
Excellent communication, presentation and task prioritization skills;
Experience and ability to effectively understand, manipulate and analyze large financial data sets;
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail;
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel;
Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a diverse team with a commitment to equity and inclusion;

Experience with Access, SharePoint, Tableau, and Enterprise Financial Planning software;
Experience with and knowledge of grant-funded projects, grants and contracts accounting, and research administration;

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
