EVENTS PRODUCER , Resource Development (RD)-Communications, Events, Donor Relations and Stewardship (CEDRS) , to plan, implement, and evaluate events for the cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of major and prospective donors to MIT. Will report to the associate director of events for the CEDRS team and be responsible for developing strategic plans for events and the tactical and logistical details such as individual event budgets, collateral, venues, catering, audio-visual, transportation, hotel room blocks, and police details. Responsibilities include managing--from conceptualization through evaluation--a wide variety of events from small intimate dinners to large major events; interacting with senior officers, faculty, and major donors/prospects; and collaborating with a wide range of RD staff, vendors, and service providers.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; three years' event planning experience; experience supervising volunteers and vendors; experience managing in-person and virtual events; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and command of language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation; meticulous attention to detail; service orientation; and proficiency with Mac computers and standard applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously with minimal supervision; develop and manage project timelines and budgets; communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals by telephone, in virtual settings, or in-person; work effectively and flexibly under pressure; function as part of a collaborative team in a demanding, fast-paced environment; and lift 40 pounds and remain stationary for long periods at a time. PREFERRED : experience working in a fund-raising capacity within the nonprofit sector; familiarity with donor databases and event tools (Cvent, Social Tables); experience with G-Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.), other collaborative tools (Basecamp, Slack), and Dropbox; familiarity with MIT; and experience in higher education. Must be able to work long hours during peak work periods before and during events, including some evening, weekend, and early morning work.
Domestic and occasional international travel will also be required.
