Work location: This position is not required to be on campus daily. Some travel to our Seattle office will be required for meetings.
The application support engineer will serve in a full-time role of data analyst/programmer, working as a senior data analyst . The person will be focused on:
Building expertise on the internal clinical research dataset and data systems
Understanding and supporting the different business functions that our systems coordinate, both for research users on the Fred Hutch side and clinical users engaged in patient care and clinical operations at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA)
Working with scientific researchers to analyze and understand clinical data
Supporting clinical operations of SCCA and Fred Hutch including system data interfaces with external institutions of the Cancer Consortium
Programming and automating reports to extract and deliver clinical data to investigators, clinicians, and clinical care support staff
Providing research application of our clinical data integrated with external data sources on behalf of the organization's scientific mission
Six years of directly related experience
At least three years of experience in working in the health care and/or medical research fields
Strong skills in analyzing relational data and problem solving
Experience working directly with end users and providing customer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in working with Microsoft SQL Server and related Microsoft SQL products
Experience in working with VMS
Proven hands-on experience deploying and maintaining complex, custom, multi-tiered application systems
