Hephzibah Children’s Association is a renowned social service agency in Oak Park, IL that has been helping children thrive and families flourish through innovative community-based programs for nearly one hundred twenty-five years. The agency programs include two residential group homes for young children, foster care, and intact family support programs, and after school and summer day care programs for elementary aged students.
We are seeking an exceptional, mission-driven leader to join our executive leadership team as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO works collaboratively with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and leadership team to provide direction to fulfill the organization’s mission and vision. The CFO is responsible for directing all areas of the organization’s financial management including controllership, financial planning and reporting, budgeting, treasury, and business office and audit, in accordance with sound financial practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
The qualified candidate is a demonstrated leader able to empower others to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make Hephzibah’s mission and vision a reality.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA with accounting concentration, and CPA designation required.
A minimum of seven years’ experience in financial management leadership, with 5 years of nonprofit experience.
Knowledge and understanding of general business matters, budget development, GAAP, financial reports, insurance, business taxes, and investment management.
Knowledge of computer systems including system selection, implementation, and project management. Experience with accounting software, Microsoft Office, and ability to quickly learn other software programs.
Ability to educate and coordinate financial information with groups, including the Board of Directors, Administration, Program Directors, funders, and regulatory agencies
Demonstrated analytical abilities, good judgment and decision-making skills, high ethical standards and strong operational focus and ability to lead and build the capabilities of senior managers.
Strategic Vision and Agility: ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
Demonstrated experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, information systems, budgeting and finance and experience with state licensing and accreditation.
