The AVP for Career and Community Partnerships position offers an exciting opportunity for an innovative and visionary leader to provide direction for the areas of Career Development, Community Engagement, and Strategic Partnerships. We are seeking a highly collaborative and energetic team member who can ensure strategic alignment of the functional areas with the vision and mission of the university and with the needs of external partners. The Career Development Center and Center for Community Engagement are comprised of dynamic professionals who integrate academic experiences and student engagement across programs and practices. The AVP for Career and Community Partnerships leads the Career team (four full-time professionals) and Community Engagement Team (one full-time professional and two full-time Vista's) to build strong talent pipelines for Bellarmine students via community engagement, experiential learning, part-time employment, and full-time jobs post-graduation all while developing and driving strategic priorities across the university.
A. Maintain and enhance strong relationships with internal campus stakeholders and expand collaboration and partnerships to integrate career development throughout academic programs, student leadership initiatives, student employment opportunities, and other programs that encourage purpose and belonging within the student experience.
B. Develop and manage appropriate budgets, functional workflow, organizational structure, policies and procedures, decision-making and problem-solving practices, information resources and systems for Career Development using an equity lens.
C. Oversee the development, delivery, assessment and continuous improvement of career services, including programs and resources to support the equitable career success of all Bellarmine students and alumni in five major functional areas: self-discovery and career purpose, career readiness and planning, experiential learning, mentoring and networking, and corporate and community engagement.
D. Supervise and retain a dynamic team of Career Development Center employees (full-time and part-time, professional and paraprofessional), conducting annual performance reviews, and encouraging ongoing professional development opportunities.
E. Facilitate student, faculty, staff and alumni communication and interaction with community partners, graduate schools, employers, recruiters and representatives of professional associations and other organizations.
F. Serve as liaison for campus, constituent, community and media relations and communicate pertinent information about experiential learning programs, job opportunities, careers, employers, industries, graduate and professional schools, employment trends and forecasts, etc.
G. Ensure compliance with legal requirements, professional standards and ethical responsibilities in the areas of information security, privacy rights, employment law, equal opportunity, access, affirmative action and diversity.
H. Oversee first destination survey and outcomes.
A. Implement and oversee university strategic initiatives related to Community Engagement, and Strategic Partnerships. Move Bellarmine towards institutionalization of community engagement and attainment of the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification
B. Supervise, retain, and grow a dynamic team of Community Engagement employees, conducting annual performance reviews, and encouraging ongoing professional development opportunities.
C. Oversee the Community Engagement Taskforce comprised of faculty and staff stakeholders across campus to guide and bolster community engagement.
D. Oversee the development, delivery, assessment, and growth of Community Engagement; providing curricular and co-curricular programming (Bonner Program, Butterfly Project, RISE), developing reciprocal partnerships, and collaborate with Liberal Education Taskforce to cultivate curricular community engagement (BU 250, Sophomore Serve, and Senior Capstone).
E. Implement and facilitate ongoing training and experiential opportunities for faculty and staff such as the Community Engagement Faculty Institute and Community service benefit for staff.
A. Work in collaboration with the Strategic Partnership team (Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, Development, Student Affairs) to provide leadership and project management of partnership initiatives that advance university strategic priorities including: deliver a transformative student experience, become a model of academic innovation, grow enrollment pipelines, enhance diversity and inclusion efforts, develop strong and sustained community partnerships, and increase educational access for students.
B. Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders including businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions and others to increase opportunities for community engagement, experiential learning, internships, part-time and full-time employment, and continuing education to advance the personal and professional development of students.
C. Represent the university in relevant/appropriate professional and community organizations and generate opportunities for partnership and revenue generation.
A. Collaborate and engage as a member of the Division of Student Affairs leadership team.
B. Assist Enrollment Management, Alumni Relations, and other divisions with recruitment, retention, orientation, programming, communication, fundraising, etc.
C. Opportunity to teach courses focused on career, community engagement, and professional development.
D. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs or the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.
Minimum of ten years experience in career services, community engagement, or relevant higher education or community experience.
Master's degree in higher education, business administration, counseling psychology or a related field required; terminal degree preferred.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with direct experience in developing and managing strategic plans, budgets, projects and people.
Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in counseling, interviewing, facilitating, training and public speaking.
