The Apprenti PGH Assistant Director of Talent Development and Apprenticeships is someone keen to make a difference in the region. The incumbent is a "people person" who can lead the employer and candidate-facing side of a skills-based hiring program called Apprenti. This is an apprenticeship model that delivers middle-skill technology talent to businesses. Growing the pipeline of job seekers and managing the funnel of candidates from first exposure through job placement will be an essential part of this role.
This person brings passion to everything they focus on and has a can-do attitude. The incumbent is able to develop new and scale existing initiatives, build and grow programs and loves working with a blank canvas. This person has a high tolerance for ambiguity and knows how to cobble together available resources to achieve goals. He/she/they likes to get stuff done and is comfortable setting metric-driven outcome goals. The ideal candidate works well independently and also in close collaboration with team members, toggling with ease between the two and as appropriate.

While based in Pittsburgh, this position will be responsible for the promotion and expansion of the program for the entire southwest region and will engage with business partners across the state including government and state agencies. The role performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following:
Employer Identification & Recruitment
Identify and cultivate SW Pennsylvania corporate hiring partners for the purpose of securing apprentice head count.
Perform high-level account management with strategic employers.
Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
Publicly deliver presentations to recruit participants and employers generating awareness, and ultimately, signed commitments.
Community Partner and Candidate Identification and Recruitment
Seek qualified candidates, supporting/directing their engagement across the various program options and vetting their readiness
Make connections between candidates and the most relevant employer job openings
Monitor progress of individuals during their training and on-the-job apprenticeships
Drive broad awareness with potential job seekers as well as proactively engage key constituency/stakeholder groups who have access to pools of candidates [e.g., current training providers, 2-yr community colleges, high school vocational program leaders, military veterans groups, WIBs, community organizations, etc.]
Scale this program over time so that there is a steady, robust stream of middle-skill tech talent flowing into our businesses.
Develop metrics for success and methodology for tracking qualitative and quantitative impact across all programs.
Build and maintain close relationships and partnerships with varied stakeholders in the talent ecosystem; make recommendations on opportunities to support, collaborate, advocate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support, under direction of Apprenti Washington, the planning and delivery of registered apprenticeship and related activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization and the funded grants.
Develop and implement long-term strategic plan to achieve the successful outcome of the program, identifying and maintaining key relationships in market to ensure success.
Facilitate consistent and high-quality delivery of Apprenti program
Engage with State of Pennsylvania, City of Pittsburgh, private partners and key stakeholders to ensure the effective program delivery as needed.
Work in support of the Apprenti budget and operating plan to achieve desired outcomes
Identify and advocate for local and regional financial support of the program to ensure the continuous delivery and sustainability of services.

Education and Experience
5-10 years of previous talent/workforce experience
Experience convening and connecting people through planning and execution of events
Demonstrated success in business development and key account management with comfort presenting to senior level technology professionals
Experience working with and selling into the c-suite
Experience working with multiple stakeholders including government, education and private sector
Experience with target performance metrics
Experience working with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to, and passion for, working in a mission driven organization
Experience working with military and diverse populations; understanding of accelerated learning platforms and/or education or apprenticeship programs
Experience or knowledge of registered apprenticeship as a system
