The University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business (HCB) invites nominations and applications for Coordinator of Pre-Collegiate Programs in the Office Diversity and Community Relations. This individual will coordinate recruitment activities in partnership with the admissions office to attract diverse students into the Haslam College. They will also be responsible for the leading several summer programs for high school students. Finally, they will coordinate the college's outreach efforts, specifically to underrepresented and underserved populations. The college creates a diverse community by fostering a climate supportive of respect, social justice and broad participation. These efforts support our teaching, research, and outreach mission.The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is the work location and is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
Pay Grade: salary will be commensurate with experience and expectations.
Responsibilities. Successful candidates must be able to:
Build partnerships with school districts and personnel to build pipelines into the Haslam College.
Coordinate our involvement with local nonprofit youth serving organizations.
Coordinate the college's involvement with yield events (JUMP, Sneak Peek, Open houses, etc).
Coordinate various summer pre-collegiate/access programs (AIM, BETS, GATE, WEB, ECAP).
Directs departmental operations and budgets, strategic planning, policy and procedure development and supervises staff for summer programs.
Serve as a liaison with Undergraduate Programs, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Residence Life.
Serve as the assessment coordinator for diversity programs.
This person is also responsible for the recruitment of students of color and those from underrepresented populations. He/she travels to high schools as a part of the TACRAO (Tennessee Associate of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) and the National Scholarship Services.
This person serves in some community relations roles, including coordinating the office's involvement with Project Grad Knoxville and Knoxville Area Urban League National Achievers Society, TENSE Summit, Freedom Schools, etc. They are also responsible for the development and maintenance of the college's diversity website and email accounts.
NOTE: Position will require extensive travel during peak recruitment seasons.
