Nationally recognized nonprofit venture philanthropy seeks an Associate Partner to support NewSchools’ new, three-year strategy called Learning Solutions.
NewSchools Venture Fund is a national nonprofit that looks for the people with the ideas that are going to change education and open doors for all children. The call has never been more urgent to innovate — to bring new approaches and new organizations that will give every child a great chance in life. Each and every child has a fundamental right to a great education — one that leaves her ready to create a fulfilling life, make positive change, and help build an equitable future for everyone. Yet, too many children — especially in Black, Latino and low-income neighborhoods — don’t have access to the learning opportunities they need.
We believe the genius to create an equitable education system already exists in our nation, in our communities, and that new ideas must have the support they need to grow. That’s why NewSchools offers not just funding, but partnership and support, to innovators who seek to build strong schools and organizations dedicated to a more just future in education. To get there, we support entrepreneurs in four investment areas: Innovative Public Schools, Learning Solutions, Diverse Leaders and Racial Equity.
In a time of rapid change, educators, students and parents are calling for solutions that break through old boundaries and profoundly improve outcomes, especially for Black, Latino and low-income children. The need to equip students for the future, to thrive in a complex world, has always been vital, but takes on a new urgency today. We’re seeing innovators creating tools and solutions that can power new levels of student success. They’re working hand-in-hand with educators and school leaders who are both building new school models and reinventing existing ones. To meet this moment, our Learning Solutions investment area supports early-stage innovators developing tools, content, and models that can accelerate student growth and equitable outcomes.
As a member of the Learning Solutions team, the Associate Partner will be a key part of our efforts to find, fund, and support promising for-profit and nonprofit leaders developing educational content, tools, and models that support students and educators in PreK-12 schools. This Associate Partner will lead pre-investment activities, including market research and pipeline development, to ensure that investments are informed by a deep understanding of student and educator perspectives as well as current education market dynamics. In addition, the Associate Partner will contribute to strategy development and manage a set of venture relationships. The Associate Partner will report to Cameron White, a Partner who co-leads the Learning Solutions team.
