Plays a key role in laying important groundwork for future fundraising success by continuing to create and lead innovative, first in class programs that will steward donors and engage constituents.
Oversees division-wide strategic planning and implementation based on data-driven recommendations and provides direction and guidance to colleagues on strategic priorities and projects related to the donor and constituent experience.
Leads the Donor Relations department, comprised of the donor relations and stewardship, strategic events, and gift acceptance, agreement, and compliance teams.
Evaluates effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of all aspects of the stewardship, events, and compliance programs on an ongoing basis to enhance and elevate the donor experience at the University.
Provides strategic vision for the Donor Relations department to support principal and major gift development and solicitation, as well as campaign initiatives.
Manages the Donor Relations and Stewardship programs to acknowledge and recognize donors in meaningful ways, communicate the impact of their philanthropy, and deepen their engagement with the University.
Supervies the Strategic Events program to engage, cultivate, and steward constituents and donors worldwide to support University priorities.
Partners with senior leaders across ARD in the divisions, schools, and units to build and maintain University-wide stewardship and event protocols to ensure consistent outcomes and experience.
Develops and implements strategies for the use and adoption of technology to advance the donor stewardship and event experience.
Directs the gift compliance function to ensure the appropriate use and maximum spend of all donor-restricted funds at the University, working with leadership across the University.
Governs the gift agreement and acceptance functions, including creation, review, and approval process for gift agreements and collaboration on design and review of gift acceptance policy guidelines. Â
Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.Â
Develops and implements new programs to recognize, steward, and thank donors. Develops donor recognition strategies and applies resources of the larger team to meet donor needs.
Sets priorities for multiple short-term and long-term projects, based on departmental goals.
Performs other related work as needed.
A minimum of seven years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, fundraising and/or higher education, or customer service.
A minimum of six years of project management experience.
A minimum of four years of management experience, including staff.
A minimum of two years of experience developing and monitoring budgets.
Understanding of philanthropy, higher education, and fundraising programs.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the Donor Management System, Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Tableau. Knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
