The Assistant Director of Prospect Research & Management (Assistant Director) reports to the Director of Prospect Research & Management and works closely with the Advancement Services team and the Office of Institutional Advancement. This position provides prospect research and management team support and analysis, and portfolio management support for the Principal and Major Gifts teams that serve as the foundation of IIT's major, leadership and principal gift fundraising efforts and directly contributes to its success. The Assistant Director performs a variety of functions focused around activities of Advancement Services, most specifically on prospect research and portfolio management, and requires an advanced knowledge of IA data entry policy and procedure in The Raiser's Edge, IIT's relational fundraising database.

Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Journalism, History, English, Business, or Library Science) or any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree and one to two years of development or corporate research. Demonstrated experience in business writing and editing.
Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills; very high attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge of relational database systems (particularly Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge®), and the ability to retrieve information and present it in an effective manner using MS Access and MS Excel are essential. Other necessary strengths include written and verbal communication, project management, problem-solving and analytical skills. The Assistant Director must possess exemplary interpersonal skills, and be able to interact with staff and management throughout the University, and external University constituents, in a prompt and professional manner, on a wide variety of development related issues. The Assistant Director should be curious and investigative, logical, methodical, systems-oriented, task-oriented, highly motivated, technologically savvy, proficient in the use of a broad variety of sources (Lexis/Nexis®, RelSci, FoundationSearch®, Blackbaud ResearchPoint®, social media, push technology, database management, library resources and government sources), and be productive with minimal supervision. The Assistant Director should have a thorough understanding of real estate purchases and sales, stock transaction disclosure documentation, business transactions, nonprofit tax filings, and other elements that might impact an individual or organization's financial status. The Assistant Director should be familiar with best practices and industry standards for prospect research and portfolio management. Knowledge of APRA guidelines is strongly desired. S/he must be flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work setting, ever cognizant of short deadlines and comfortable working under pressure. Communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely. Work in a team environment, supporting the research needs of the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, Deans, and the IA Senior Management Team. Able to meet deadlines, work independently, prioritize work and manage multiple priorities. Adhere to IIT's standards of discretion and confidentiality.
