Office of the Provost - Academic Affairs Other Units, Shared Services Center
The Academic Affairs Other Units, Shared Services Center (AAOU SSC) within the Office of the Provost, provides transactional support to 19+ AAOU departments in the areas of Payroll, Human Resources, Finance and Budgeting.
The Business Services Specialist in the Academic Affairs Other Units Shared Services Center (AAOU SSC) will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day payroll processing and financial transactions of the unit.
The incumbent will support the day-to-day payroll and hiring related tasks that are complex in nature. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Prepare and process payroll and HR paperwork for all hires, transfers, terminations, labor distributions and other actions for all employee types, leave payouts, bi-weekly payroll and time entry for assigned departments;
Identify customer issues and execute effective method(s) for resolution, determine if critical or expertise-specific issues should be referred to the AAOU SSC's Associate Director, Specialist, or other designated manager for resolution;
Reviews current processes, procedures and collaborates with others to seek process improvements;
Ensure compliance with all institutional and/or external policies or regulations;
Provide excellent customer service;
Other administrative tasks and duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and personnel work.
Note: A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for four years of the required work experience. Education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Must have exceptional quality of work, communication skills, professionalism, cooperation and teamwork, and customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills are essential.
Higher Education or nonprofit experience. Ability to take initiative and contribute to overall process improvements. Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS, financial management and procurement.
