APHSA is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director (HRD) with outstanding people skills to lead our organization’s human capital programs and initiatives. Reporting to the COO, the HRD demonstrates collaborative and visionary leadership by serving as a strategic thinker, operational specialist and facilitator of HR outcomes that support our goals as an employer of choice. The HRD is responsible for promoting a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), collaboration, high performance, and job satisfaction among all employees.
As a tactical leader, the HRD manages an integrated human resource planning, policy, and service delivery system, establishing effective talent management processes including recruiting, onboarding, retention, learning and development, coaching for performance, compensation, benefits, EDI, employee records, employee assistance, workforce planning, work life programs, compliance, and information technology to support these programs.
Serves as the senior departmental leader in providing direction and oversight of a full range of human capital programs to improve performance, productivity, and effectiveness of the association’s programs and operations.
Establishes goals for strategic planning of human capital programs at the operational and tactical levels, provides expertise in integrating human capital approaches to achieve business model outcomes, and advances the mission of APHSA.
Develops and facilitates innovative strategies to achieve effective workforce planning, recruitment, and retention optimization, including onboarding and offboarding procedures.
Leads talent management and development through efficient and effective introductory programs and ongoing portfolio coaching/performance management.
Collaborates with departments to support and impact APHSA’s people strategies that enable employee engagement through a range of program initiatives.
Develops, implements, and manages total rewards strategies including compensation administration, and informal/formal recognition programs.
Develops and administers benefit programs, policies, and procedures to ensure competitive and cost-effective offerings. Works collaboratively with brokers and vendors to develop benefit programs, communicates said programs, and ensures all compliance requirements (i.e. ACA and ERISA) are met and maintained.
Collaborates with Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer on development and implementation of organizational effectiveness initiatives.
Oversees payroll administration and interfaces with benefit vendors and payroll service; resolves discrepancies.
Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal employment related requirements.
Manages overall office administration functions in conjunction with other staff support team.
Provides leadership and supervisory support to HR Coordinator and other staff as assigned.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
10+ years experience in full cycle human resources
5+ years supervisory experience
2+ years payroll and office management experience
SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification, highly desirable
Experience in association sector, nonprofit sector, and/or the US health and human services system, desirable
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated project management skills
Demonstrated relationship building skills; judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork and community; ability to handle multiple tasks; highly organized; adaptive, and inquisitive.

BS/BA degree in human resources, business management or related field, MS/MBA, desirable
