Steeped in tradition since 1948, SLS Preschool provides excellence in early childhood education and kindergarten preparedness. We offer a balance of pre-academic curriculum, creative play, and discovery that sparks curiosity and a passion for learning. SLS Preschool now seeks an experienced, strategic, early childhood educator to be our new Head of School. In addition to possessing exemplary leadership skills and a passion for early childhood education, the Head of School will be responsible for further developing the school’s vision and strategy to ensure future success and long-term sustainability. This individual will leverage and build upon the school’s strong history while fostering a joyful, inclusive community.

SLS provides an exemplary program that balances a deep understanding of kindergarten readiness (academic, social and emotional) with the inherent love of learning. Families who join the SLS community speak passionately about the close relationships they forge with teachers and each other and are grateful for the ways in which SLS prepares children for success in their next schools. There have been only three Heads of School in its 73-year history; the most recent two Heads each served for more than thirty years.

Central to the school's philosophy and practice is the belief that a structured program provides a safe first step from home to school in an atmosphere of respect and courtesy. The school's focus is on providing a warm and welcoming environment where young children can thrive with the support of committed and talented teachers, where traditions are celebrated, and where close relationships with families are an essential value.
