The Presentation School (TPS) was established in 1997 by a group of educators committed to creating a school that would support children not only in their academic growth, but also in their appreciation of art, language, athletics, and most importantly, their exploration of faith, character, and service. Now 23 years old, TPS has a K-8 enrollment of 178, with 22 faculty members and four full-time administrators.
The Head of School along with the Board of Trustees have built a strong school community, beautiful campus, all while tirelessly pursuing excellence. TPS’s reputation extends beyond the Sonoma Valley as families from further afield seek the community and strong academic program that the school offers. TPS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), provisionally accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and actively engaged and interconnected with independent and Catholic schools in the broader landscape of northern California education.
Mission and Philosophy
The Presentation School is an independent school guided by Catholic values that challenges its students to be active learners reaching their individual potential with an integrated curriculum and small class size. The Presentation School seeks an entrepreneurial, energetic, and results-driven individual. The ideal candidate is strategically oriented, experienced in fundraising, annual giving & capital campaigns, an enthusiastic team player, and dedicated to the mission of a faith-based, independent school guided by Catholic values. The Development Officer will play a vital role in the sustained growth of the school, working closely with the Head of School, Board of Trustees and Development Committee to implement fundraising campaigns to achieve its strategic financial goals. He or she will be an active partner in building relationships with alumni, parents, Trustees, and members of the surrounding community to cultivate a culture of giving, inspire philanthropy, and communicate how meaningful gifts can impact program excellence for The School.
Work with the Head of School and Trustees to develop financial goals and a strategic plan for each giving program
Create and manage the long-term strategic development plan for the following: Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Strategic Communication, and Capital Campaigns
Manage the Patriot League annual Strategic Sponsorship program
Work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Development Committee on the creation of a new endowment fund
Enhance existing relationships, while building new relationships, systems, and programs that further encourage the generosity of major donors and the broader Sonoma and Napa communities
Manage prospect tracking, stewardship, and all aspects of fundraising programs
Create all collateral, website, and overall communications strategies to support the long-term strategic development plan
Collaborate with the admissions/marketing team on PR initiatives to create fundraising-related communication materials to expand and enhance the school’s visibility and reputation
Utilize social media platforms to build loyalty and engagement with alumni, parents and the community-at-large
Create an alumni relations program to engage and strengthen relationships with The School’s alumni including, but not limited to, regular communications, on-campus events, reunions, dinners, and cultivation events
Manage and plan annual fundraising events and campaigns. Sets goals, timelines and monitors progress
Create and implement strategies to identify and recruit a volunteer leadership team to support Development efforts
Manage the Development budget and meet or exceed annual fundraising goals
Work with accounting of donation finances, tax-letters, and audit materials
Participate in Board of Trustee meetings, when appropriate, providing regular, detailed reports to the Head of School and Board of Trustees to keep them fully appraised of all development efforts
Collaborate with Development Committee Chairs, set agendas, and participate in the Development Committee meetings. Prepares and distributes minutes.
Participate in Finance Committee meetings as needed to provide updates and participate in financial goal setting discussions
Participate in the daily community life of the school, which may extend beyond the responsibilities of a job description, and when the need arises, assist the Head of School with all other duties as assigned
A high level of integrity, warmth, confidence, a positive outlook, a strong work ethic and an engaging, positive, creative, and personable attitude
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Hands-on approach – able and happy to both strategically create and tactically implement fundraising programs
Ability to interact effectively with all the constituencies of the school community: including the Head of School, administration, staff, faculty, Board of Trustees, alumni, parents, and friends
Experience in the nonprofit sector, and/or independent schools, in development and fundraising
Ability to demonstrate our three core values and support our mission through collaboration, professionalism, and critical reflection
Able to administer the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift and annual fund leadership prospects
Skill in public and parent relations, communications, strategic marketing, board relations, and school management
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, social media applications, and knowledge of fundraising data software and database management software
Experience working with and motivating volunteers and staff members

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, on occasion as needed
Must be able to walk, stand, climb, hear, see, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on a daily basis on occasion as needed
Must be able to drive a reliable vehicle
Must possess a valid state driver's license and have a clean motor vehicle record
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and have good mobility skills
Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, ability to take photographs, extensive reading, etc.
Must pass a comprehensive background check
Ability to pass state and federal background check, fingerprinting, reference checks.
