SYSTEM DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT (SDM) CAREER OFFICER , System Design and Management (SDM) Program , to create and implement a strategy for developing and executing a full suite of career services offerings for self-sponsored students (and alumni) at the mid-career/management level. Students typically have technical undergraduate degrees and eight to ten years' industry experience. Will be responsible for providing education and development, including career counseling/decision making, behavioral and recruiting skill development, professional social profile, and presentation skills; and for developing and managing a job recruitment program with companies across a wide spectrum of industries, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations who require mid-level leaders with the skills included in the curriculum. Will work closely with the industry director to manage relationships with key partners.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in related field; at least three years' experience in a career center or higher education setting related to career development and recruiting services or a corporate setting responsible for hiring technical managerial talent; communication and interpersonal skills for speaking with senior leaders of industry and government and convincing them of the value of engagement with the program; strong relationship management skills for working with/guiding students as they balance academic and work pressures; understanding of science, technology, and management careers; experience delivering career programming and career counseling; interest in the principles of an MIT education; ability to collaborate with students, faculty, and staff at a research institution; knowledge of and appreciation for cross-cultural and bias issues; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population; and ability to listen carefully and communicate tactfully.
