Director of Development
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Development is responsible for leading Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ (SFBFS) donor development and fundraising efforts. He/She will focus on continually growing our base of committed donors and growing revenue through our annual fund, major gifts, corporate and foundation grants, and planned giving efforts. The Director of Development leads the development team, works closely with the President/CEO and the Director of Communications to effectively inform and engage our donors.
The Director of Development will (including but not limited to):
- Develop a comprehensive, strategic plan for growing contributed revenue. Create an annual plan that identifies strategies and tactics for increasing giving, providing effective donor stewardship, increasing donor retention, attracting new donors and deepening community engagement.
- Work closely with the President and Development team to plan and implement annual and longer-term development plans which support the SFBFS strategic plan and including major gifts, annual campaigns, foundation grants, corporate giving, events and other funding sources.
- Work with various departmental staff to develop and oversee an annual Fund Development Plan that meets donor development and revenue goals, oversee and participate in strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward SFBFS’ close supporters. Will oversee the continued development and growth of the legacy giving society, grant-seeking activities for the organization including research, proposal writing and reporting, ongoing relationship building with foundation and corporate funders, fundraising events including SFBFS’ signature event, Run to Feed the Hungry.

POSITION DETAILS
- Full-time, exempt position; Monday – Friday (40.0-hour work week.); occasional weekends, evenings and holidays as needed
- SFBFS’ Family Services campus location, with occasional travel to FBS campus
