Department: Alumni Relations & Dev NYC Salary/Grade: EXS/6
Frontline major gifts fundraiser who identifies, cultivates and solicits New York metropolitan area alumni, parents, and friends capable of making gifts of $100,000 or more. Develops and manages a fluid portfolio of major gift prospects through qualification visits, cultivation and solicitations that align with prospect interests and financial capacity. Collaborates with development colleagues across all units, prospect research, and University volunteers to plan and execute compelling prospect meetings and solicitations of donors.
Candidate must be a self-starter who is highly organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks. This position will be based in Northwestern’s New York Regional Office and will report to the Director of Major Gifts, New York.
Please note: Work outside of standard business hours may be required to attend evening and weekend events.
Administers & maintains existing strategic plans including presenting a persuasive verbal and written case to prospects for supporting key programs and projects, effectively matching the interests of prospects to specific needs.
Involves moderate level of collaboration with internal department partners and low level of collaboration with University partners in implementing and expanding existing relationships to accomplish strategic goals.
Prospects & Gifts
Implements strategies, goals & approaches to close major gifts.
Partners with other areas of development, specifically Annual & Planned Giving to coordinate contacts.
Identifies, researches & personally solicits gifts of $100k or more by managing a portfolio of approximately 75 prospects annually.
Completes associated stewardship activities.
Maintains up-to-date best practices and evaluates closed prospects.
Recommends changes to ensure successful completion of objectives & goals.
Requires travel throughout the region or country.
Reviews the prospect pool and develops relationships by submitting proposals to prospective donors.
Tracks & documents progress and associated notes.
Prepares contact reports on meetings and interactions with alumni.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience is required.

Experience with CRM databases.
