Senior Accountant

Functions & Responsibilities:

• Serve as a key resource and liaison for the organization by providing daily financial oversight ensuring that the financial records are complete, accurate, and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), policies, and regulations
• Manage and maintain the general ledger (GL), perform month, quarter, and year-end closing procedures, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Assist with the coordination, preparation, and maintenance of the annual consolidated and individual entity budgets, including forecasting and re-forecasting
• Perform detailed analysis on financial statements and budgets to understand and highlight variances and trends
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
• Analyze and review expenses to ensure compliance with budgets and proper GL account classification
• Compile and calculate data to ensure proper payment of various employee bonuses and vendor referral payment fees
• Assist with year-end external financial audits and periodic internal audits by preparing documents to fulfill PBC requests and investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and/or issues of non-compliance
• Develop and document business processes, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls and streamline processes
• Maintain, benchmark, and communicate firm financial metrics to firm leadership
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree required with a preferred concentration in Finance or Accounting or graduate degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA License (active or in progress) is preferred but not required
• Three (3) years’ minimum experience required
• High-level knowledge of financial services industry is a plus
• Robust knowledge of GAAP
• Experience using large ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required, specifically in-depth Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills are essential
• Self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously

• Exercise sound judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Curious, innovative, and demonstrates initiative

Travel Requirements:

• Less than 5% travel for trainings and business events

Work Environment:

• This role works in a professional office environment located in downtown Chicago, IL or CT (temporarily working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers
