Essential Functions: The WSU Center for Urban Studies aims to stop overdose deaths and reduce other harm related to the opioid crisis, while fostering civic engagement as a key strategy for addressing critical community challenges in the Detroit area. We are seeking a motivated individual to lead a team of Overdose Rescue Trainers. New members are enrolled quarterly to serve on the team for a six-month period, and there are typically 15-25 team members at a given time. The logistics coordinator will provide direction and oversight to this team of volunteer service members who teach people in the community how to provide life-saving aid during an opioid overdose emergency. High energy, strong organizational skills, and passion for the program's mission to reduce opioid-related harm is essential to excel in this position.Note regarding the coronavirus pandemic: The COVID-19 outbreak has required our program to adapt all program activities to be conducted in a virtual/remote format. During teleservice, team members collaborate with each other and program staff via Zoom, email, and other remote communication tools, and all community outreach and overdose rescue training sessions are conducted online. We plan to resume in-person service and activities once public health officials indicate that it is safe to do so. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide daily direction and oversight to a team of AmeriCorps service members to ensure appropriate progress toward annual targets. Lead all-team meetings on a weekly basis and meet with members individually or with smaller functional teams as needed.Track data on program outputs and accomplishments; ensure data is properly collected and entered into tracking system; and prepare regular progress reports.Assess strengths and limitations of individual team members to inform member assignments. Provide regular feedback to members on their performance and areas for improvement. Implement disciplinary procedures as appropriate. Become knowledgeable about national AmeriCorps requirements, policies, and procedures and diligently adhere to AmeriCorps guidelines in all aspects of program operations.Communicate reliably, clearly and effectively with project team members and community partners.Maintain work plans, task lists, and project calendars on a regular basis and meet interim deadlines.Perform other duties as deemed necessary to support project goals. Qualifications: Bachelors degree is required; a graduate degree (or working towards a graduate degree) is preferred.Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching, training, or coaching groups is highly desirable. Previous professional experience in a public service organization (governmental, university, or nonprofit) is highly desirable.Must be self-motivated and able to initiate and complete tasks independently; strong organizational and problem-resolution skills; detail-oriented.Must demonstrate strong capacity to collaborate and work as a team member.Outstanding communication skills; ability to present effectively to diverse groups, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be confident communicating through virtual channels with team members and others. Must be comfortable providing constructive feedback.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google products (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Forms, Calendar, etc.).Familiarity with AmeriCorps programs and policies is an advantage.
