The Elizabeth Weiser Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI) is a new campus-wide Institute that works across disciplines, serving as the central hub to coordinate exceptional research, education and patient and family centered care. This role will support UM faculty and staff, patients and communities in preventing, treating, and ultimately curing diabetes and related disorders. The CDI seeks a Managing Director to grow and sustain an interdisciplinary coalition of researchers, clinicians, staff, learners, patients, families, and educators. The person in this role will support large campus-wide initiatives, develop new programs that align with strategic priorities of the Institute, work collaboratively with other centers and institutes, plan and direct the Managing and operational activities, and oversee the staff and budget. She/he/they will work with CDI leadership, Advisory Boards, patients, families and the community, and Program Directors in establishing strategic direction, which includes coordinating and supporting diabetes- and metabolism-related research programs to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness; engaging patients and their families to integrate cutting-edge research with clinical care; coordinating among clinical programs to enhance care and experience for patients with diabetes and related disorders; and coordinating and supporting the training and mentoring of those focused on diabetes and metabolism research and care at the University of Michigan. The Managing Director for CDI will be responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise to leverage the knowledge and skills of others, and to strategically grow the Institute services. The Managing Director will work directly with the Institute Director to develop staff members, and to build the Institute Infrastructure in partnership with staff establishing operational objectives and assignments, and delegating assignments to appropriate team members.
