About the Nueva School

The Nueva School, an internationally recognized, nonprofit, independent day school, has served gifted learners since 1967. Today, Nueva serves nearly 1000 students PreK–12. Position Overview

We seek an experienced school leader to serve as Upper School Division Head for a 10-month period across two different school years. The person in this role will oversee all aspects of our upper school while collaborating with the entire PreK-12 leadership team on school-wide issues.  In addition to successfully leading 70 faculty and staff in delivering an ambitious educational program and a comprehensive set of support services, the person in this position will be expected to reiterate the school’s commitment to gifted learning, lead DEI-related activities, sustain and improve upon operational systems, and facilitate community-building events.

The Temporary Upper School Division Head will report to the Head of School and work closely with students, faculty, staff, parents, other division heads, and other school leaders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and support all teaching and learning activities
• Coordinate and manage all upper school programs
• Monitor and adjust logistical support systems
• Actively communicate with all stakeholders
• Provide leadership support to others

Candidate Qualifications

• At least 5-7 experience as an independent school leader, preferably at the upper school level
• Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Skilled at systems implementation and tactical execution 
• Flexibility and creativity in a dynamic environment where new ideas and iteration are embraced 
• Openness to feedback and improvement, modeling lifelong learning in practice
• Master’s degree (or higher) in school administration or leadership preferred

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
