WHAT THE MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATE DOES
As part of the ASPS Membership department, this position focuses primarily on domestic (US and Canada) membership programs and contribute to the broader objective of recruitment, retention and engagement strategies (with some overlap into global membership). The Membership Associate serves as ASPS primary staff liaison to multiple ASPS/PSF commitees, which include Young Plastic Surgeons (YPS), Residents Council, Visiting Professors (VP), Volunteers in Plastic Surgery (VISP), Leadership Development Committee and Military Forum. This requires participation in and coordinating committee meetings, managing budgets and representing ASPS at plastic surgery conferences, symposia and other events (such as National Medical Students Day). The position interacts with multiple ASPS departments specifically with the Member Services Center (MSC), Finance, Industry Relations, Marketing, Business Technology, Education, Meetings and Executive staff.
Perform Committee Liaison duties include meeting deadlines for various appointments, coordinating committees’ schedules, providing support to committee chairs, managing working groups, compiling committee meeting agendas and minutes and ensuring that all deliverables are met.
Facilitate committees’ activities during the Spring Meeting and annual conference – Plastic Surgery The Meeting, either in person or remotely employing various virtual platforms.
Work closley with segments of membership as early career plastic surgeons and residents to promote engagement and member retention. Develop and implement strategies for increasing resident recruitment. Coordinate resident engagement and cultivate relationships with both residents and Training Program Directors (TPD) to facilitate transition from resident to candidate when appropriate.
Manage exhibit booth space at meetings/conferences. Work with external departments and partners to plan and implement pre-event marketing to increase visibility and meet attendence goals.
Work closely with MSC on membership processes and develop understanding and working knowledge of database (Aptify).
Work with Communications to develop membership committee-related web content and social media campaigns for recruitment and member engagement.
Assist with special projects as needed including initiatitives of the Membership Committee.
This position requires domestic travel (3 to 6 times per year) and availability during non-standard working hours to accomodate volunteers’ schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or management field preferred
3 to 5 years working in a non-profit organization and proven track record managing commitees comprised of volunteer members strongly desired
Strong work ethic, ability to work remotely and flexibility of work schedule (working non standard business hours) to accommodate volunteers’ shchedules for commitee meetings and other assignments.
Stellar organizational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to work independently, as well as interact with all levels of the organization and project teams
Excellent written, and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office 365, database (Aptify a plus) and email management system preferred
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Solid Project Management skills and proficiency in project management software (ASANA experience a plus)
