Full Time - Mid-Level (Senior Producer, Reporter, Editor)
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the 100-year-old news organization covering the Jewish world, seeks a Community Engagement Editor to help distribute and promote our reporting, grow our audience, develop our community of readers, and make our journalism shine for digital news consumers.
This position will be embedded with the JTA team and will work closely with JTA’s team of reporters and editors as well as the audience team at 70 Faces Media, our parent company, to create and execute an audience development strategy.
Develop engaged communities of readers on JTA’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels, by driving conversation, responding to readers, moderating comments, and creating posts that resonate with our audiences
Build a presence for JTA on emerging social platforms as appropriate
Contribute to the production of daily, weekly, and special-report newsletters
Write compelling subject lines and other copy to encourage engagement through email
Use site analytics to understand the audience and make recommendations to reporters and editors
Create marketing and engagement packages for special projects to ensure they command broad reach and impact
Source stories and experiences from our community of readers and showcase members of our audience in our articles and across our channels
Use data to understand our readers and tailor our outreach
You’re a good fit for this position if:
You have some previous experience in digital media and/or journalism, at the collegiate or professional level
You write cleanly, quickly, and with verve
You’re a voracious consumer of diverse forms of digital content and know where the best conversations are taking place on the internet
You enjoy staying on top of the latest trends in digital media, including changes in social media companies’ policies
You’re energized by brainstorming, experimenting, and refining strategies based on data
You’re comfortable working remotely and autonomously (and also can bring a ? gif game to our Slack)
You are passionate about the Jewish world, news, and driving conversations about both
