Location: Illinois: Chicago Job Description: - Manages the daily financial operations of the Weiss Fund, in close partnership with the Development Innovation Lab and BFI.
- Implements financial management of grant-sponsored projects, ensuring all cross-institutional activities are conducted in a thorough, efficient, and compliant manner.
- Coordinates and ensures compliance with US financial and programmatic grant reporting.
- Ensures University of Chicago compliance standards are met across all accounts and transactions in accordance with each institutionâ™s requirements and guidelines.
- Provides support to building budget projections for administrative and fundraising needs.
- Serves as lead and primary contact during audits and with the CRI Foundation staff to ensure that all audits are to standard, checked and complete for submission before the deadline.
- Manages relationships with key administrators at other institutions, as well as at the CRI Foundation.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships and clear communication with University finance offices, including BFI Finance Team, UChicago Global, Sponsored Award Accounting and Financial Services.
- Partners with central Financial Services, URA, and the BFI Finance team to execute post-award administration.
- Provides support and technical expertise on Weiss Fund financials as required by the BFI reporting commitments, in close partnership with the BFI Finance Team.
- Manages quarterly and year-end reporting for the Weiss Fund operating budget.
- Leads monthly accounting and budgetary reconciliation processes in line with the Universityâ™s Budget Office policies.
- Works closely with BFIâ™s Senior Grants Manager on pre- and post-award grant and contract administration.
- Works independently to maintain and support the planning and execution of financial strategy.
- Acts as a resource for team members, solves complex problems. Explains complex and sensitive information.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Education: - Bachelorâ™s degree in economics, finance, mathematics, business, or a related field.
- Masterâ™s degree in economics, finance, mathematics, business, or a related field.
Experience: - A minimum of 5 years of professionally related experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience managing similar grants or funds.
- Work experience in a research environment.
- Work experience in development economics or a closely related field.
Preferred Competencies - Knowledge of financial computing and database software applications, including Delphi, GEMS, BuySite, e-Ledgers, Business Objects.
- Strong financial modeling skills.
- Knowledge of various financial principles, practices, and applications including budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting.
- Think strategically and translate into operational objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Work closely with senior University officials.

Working Conditions - This position will perform tasks mostly indoors in an office setting.
